I WILL WRITE LOUDLY SO YOU CAN HEAR ME

watching you in this place
I am reminded
of other women
& the sound that memories make
when left alone too long

here in my kitchen
I plant herbs in window pots
teas & ointments
where wounds & dreams
are healed

mother/daughter/mother
the bond between us
was never clear

I inherited the family album
a womb fermented
with herbal oil
& prayers to lesson the pain

I will write loudly so you can hear me
it is January
& I am forcing dandelions to breathe
