ANCESTORS GATHER

Ancestors gather
blind seeking
roots feathers flesh
entwine
to a rough spun rope

the cord is lowered
and dragged through darkness
a guide to distant caverns
unimaginable

remembering the sky
envisioning
they hold the rope
sing to the children
hear the elders
remember the weaving
repair
              and cherish the cord
to lose it
would be to fall
to light.

UNSOUGHT REVELATIONS

Unsought Revelations
evidence gathered while stumbling through life
unconnected bits
insight without context
clues
            that there is more

the whir of Canadian Geese wings
            the back of a neck
thistles busting through a parking lot
                         the sun flashing on hair
a couple of words overheard
            a knee...moving

free falling
            unspent wisdom
with out form

glances through...to the walls
elusive foundations
vapor structures

it is there
the secrets are obvious
the questions unknowable
