QUICKENING

Deep within me I can feel it
An ache, throbbing with determination
It is strange but somehow
Comforting

Terrified, I can only wait
As life beats its tiny drum inside me
A whisper of a new soul
Emerging

In my mind I can feel it
A thread, connecting me for eternity
To a life half my own
Growing

I look now at my husband
United now no matter what life brings
We are what we never were
Family
