IN
SNOW
“over and over they said
here here
yes here”

Tiny four-pronged imprints,
to and fro, on top of,
every which way,
stamped in a fluff of light snow.
I pass them going past
the feeder toward the house
and find myself
wheeling, doubling back
to take another look –
bending close to one
delicate track printed there
suddenly aware of being
the only being anywhere
seeing this, seeing just this,
just this here
