THE BURIAL

        For Magdalena

Delicate
snow flower stems & leaf
carved in the front door's oak panel were almost identical
to the debossed image on her
weathered grave stone.

The robin's egg blue song in the ivy
was repeated in the bells
of the approaching clergy's solid footsteps on flagstones.

Coffin covered white roses
appeared more substantial
than this moment - her last -
with hands
above ground.

Ihre Beerdigung

        Für Magdalena

Zarte
Schneeglöckchen Stemme und Blumen
Geschnitzt in die Tür
waren gleich wie das Standbild
auf dem Grabstein.

Das Rotkehlchen Lied in dem Efeu
war wieder gehört in den Glocken
des annähernden Geräusch der Schritte
auf den Fliesen.

Sarg mit weißen Rosen bedeckt
erschiene mehr wesentlich bedeutet
als dieser Moment - ihr letzte -
mit Hände
obendrein.
