KEYSTROKES

Like other
keys, these
are self-
contained,
have kept
their day
job.

Unlike other
keys, these
work together
like thieves
in an art
museum,
with faith
in precisely
the right
combination
of skill and
chance.

Carefully
fitting each
and only
these letters
to my
fingers,
the poem
turns and
unlocks me

a few haiku:

hazy moon at dusk –
white tree blossoms
lace the air

the spring day
lays down a blanket for us –
sunshine on the grass

spring rain –
the cedar fronds
tremble

half birthday –
silhouette
of the old pine
