Taking
one
before I go by
too fast
THESE
MORNINGS
These
mornings sitting
in my father’s garden
with books, paper, pen, and tea
and he gloved to engage
soil, blooms, and bees
beneath clouds being sorted
into heaps by the sun. We each
write our own poetry.
IN THE
PEONY GARDEN
Leaning, folding, bending,
again and again
to smell the scent
of palest pink –
mad-hatted,
drunken as bees,
again and again
brought to our knees.
Jennifer Burd,
Ypsilanti, Michigan
