LAS NOCHES ASI

El guitarrón
Eternal embrace
Night-blooming
jazmín
Voices
on voices
Celebrate
green
gaze of lyrics
Despite all odds
Earth’s skin
Will survive

NIGHT SWIMMING

La luna neg
brushes
water’s surface
with bat-like wings

after dusk
a slight splash —
a lunar kiss
stains
my shoulders
a hyperbolic blush
waiting to drown us
in the endless
River Styx

DISMISSING THE PLANET

Extreme lilac bushes
after
summer’s deluge

rain water
pouring from gutters

unknown future
of heat indexes rising
beyond
anything
in the past
fall
through our grasp

Are we earth’s
orphans?
