Waking to now
I press my face to the glass and pass right through with eyes that look to the beauty beyond
The painter worked all night with one color on the brush just white
White that lies on evergreen like cotton babies held in arms unseen
White that drapes in many shades on hidden shapes
White that flows soft and smooth on sharp edged rows
I drink it in briefly for as long as it takes to cover cold glass with warm breath
Then the questions come
Is it deep enough to cover up the color on my calendar?
Is it cold enough to freeze time and make it stand still?
Is there wind enough to blow away the clutter of my day?
Is there ice enough to make all that once seemed urgent slip and slide away?
The answer is yes!
And everything of insignificance is erased from sight as I crawl right in and curl up under my blanket of white
