MOAB

Mindfully, water scores rock.

It takes millennia. Yet,

intention never wavers.

I kneel, and blow the dust away.

My fingers find traceries—some

still rough-edged.

The heat-hazy morning quavers

holding its blue-gray breath.

I do not hurry—

mindful of the engraver’s

task, and a teardrop’s track.
