MESCAL BLANCO!  DRINK OF CHOICE!

Cochineal red rugs,
                crimson hats,
        knitted ponchos,
for sale -
                    as are potatoes,
every shade from yellow to purple.

Pache Mama

    enjoys
                cigars & her anger      subsides.

Coco leaves at altitude;  even
                            shadows get cold.

An
alpaca waits at the back door.

AT DUSK

Eight Morro Bay witches
                    on paddle boards
in ankle-length capes, black hats & shoes
                              navigate
between fishing boats.

                  Having slept all day
            behind lazy green eyes
of black cats,
                      they glide stealthily
across illuminated water
                    along moorings.

A pelican, an egret, a gray gull
emerge softly from hidden pilings
                        matching
the silky splash of
          bewitching, candlelit waves.
