INVASION
(Maiduguri 2013)

Dark faces
Hopes dash out
People fall like axed trees
Others unsettle like rustling leaves

Last night
We rushed out of tomorrow
We had enough wine
That our visions blur
Birds dropped their quills
Crackling sound called us to order

The dawn was welcomed with cages
And chains linking fathers to sons
Our dogs went hunting
They would return to feed on their catch

Dark faces
Our minds conceive nothing
Besides tattered dreams
Hanged in rags

RAIN FOREST

i
in this part
long whip from dark skies
erodes flesh from faces

ii
mother holds you
in black hands
your smile is green
